In a nutshell is there anyway I can watch, say, Sky Sports outside of the living room if my other half wants to watch, say, BBC1 in the living room?

You'll need sky multiroom for that. £10 a month I think. I don't think there's a free way to do it, unless you can watch the FTA channels on freeview on one tv and Watch your SS on the other.

Re: Distributing TV!
He doesn't need Sky multiroom - he's not looking for subscription TV in the other rooms, he wants free satellite, which is why he has a Freesat box. I believe his original aim was eventually to have Sky+ in the living room and Freesat elsewhere although that appears to have changed a little as the Freesat box now seems to be in the living room and he's looking for ways to split the signal for TVs elsewhere.
In any case, Sky Multiroom is technically exactly the same as I've been advising him all along - one STB for each TV that is required, with each STB being independently cabled to a dual, quad or octo-LNB attached to the dish. The difference of course is that with Sky multiroom you pay an ongoing subscription for each additional box whereas with Freesat you buy each additional box, then pay nothing more.

Re: Distributing TV!
Following you. I haven't had Sky for few years now, I thought multiroom was the little magic eye thing they used to do.
Possible alternative for up to 2 rooms.

The Maplin link provides equipment to do what I've been telling Bundy he needs - a multi-LNB and additional cable and receivers. However I wouldn't recommend buying that particular bundle because it includes basic free-to-view receivers that don't come set up with Freesat features such as the EPG and iPlayer-via-ethernet, which is due to launch later this year.

I thought that looked reasonably priced but I see what you mean.

Re: Distributing TV!
This is the back of the Goodmans SD Freesat box:
I think the 'LNB OUT' socket is RF out, although I'm not certain. It needs an f-plug to mate with it, whatever it is. Unfortunately the box is down in the holiday flat and I don't know if we kept the instructions anyway.
