What a lot of nonsense. So now we have to wait even longer while individual broadcasters each spend a fortune working through the same development issues, spending many times more money and taking much longer, with no guarantee that any of them will be able to launch anything viable at the end of it.

What a waste of time.. So, Kangaroo, which would have provided a nice, integrated VOD system for multiple channels, is effectively dead.
What's the betting Sky (who at least initially could have suffered from the competition) had something to do with the decision?

Furiously lobbying behind the scenes, I have no doubt. But then they have a motive for wanting to see the terrestrial broadcasters getting a kicking from the regulator, as Sky has recently had its own not-quite-Freeview terrestrial proposals scuppered. No doubt the BBC etc made representations in that case (although IMO Ofcom made the correct moves there).
