Connecting a triplate

Hi all, hope someone can help me out. Just moved into a new block of flats and there is an MK triplate on the wall with a TV aerial, sat TV connector and FM radio connector on it. TV picture, even via a freeview PVR was terrible, so I took the triplate off the wall to discover 2 solid core coax cables coming into the backbox but only 1 connected. I stripped and connected them both - no joy. Now only one is connected and while the picture is better the strength is still low. Can anyone tell me how teh triplate should be connected please? I assume it is a loop through system but I can only see how one cable can make a connection?

Thanks in advance
