Tiscali TV, any good?

Out of curiosity I went to the Tiscali site to see what their TV has to offer, at a glance it looks good, they claim to have the biggest "on demand" section in the UK and also that their film library consists of over a thousand films, twice as many as Filmflex.
Having been burnt in the past by Tiscali's "super-fast broadband" I'm a little sceptical, to say the least, concerning their grand claims for their TV product.
Has anyone here had it or seen it?

Re: Tiscali TV, any good?

I have had Tiscali TV for the past 6 months. It is an incredible service. The on demand services are great, currently making my way through Lost season 1 and 2. Picture quality is very good, especially if you connect the box to your TV by HDMI. The box seems to have a very good upscaler.

There is a PVR option which is free to new subscribers at the moment. Its pretty much the same as sky+.

The service is very cheap. I get broadband and TV plus the entertainment package for 23.99 a month. Loads of channels in that with all the major ones e.g. GOLD, Discovery etc

Service is virtually never down and the customer service are very helpful and will often produce updates for the STB after feedback from users in the tiscali tv forum.

My BB speed actually improved after I had the TV fitted. I get the full 8 meg and I can download peer to peer at 760KB/s, so dont believe any of the crap you hear about Tiscali blocking peer to peer....they dont. They only ask that you turn off peer to peer between 6 and 11 pm, after those hours I regularly download 10GB a day and they never complain.

TV does take some bandwith while you are actually watching an ADSL channel, but it takes the freeview channels from the aerial so more often than not it doesnt affect your service at all.

I really cant recommend this service enough.

Looks like Tiscali TV might be on the way out:

Now may not be the best time to commit to it. I'm just praying it doesnt go because if it does, SKY will be my only option for getting GOLD, Discovery etc.
