PC to HDMI

Hi 1st time here

I have just brought this TV http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/pro...HIBA-32XV505DB. My PC is not HDMI I dont no whever that be a problem but i do have http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/499279...d/Product.html Graphics card Which is HDMI. I am trying to use the ATI Radeon DVI to HDMI Adaptor to conect the PC to my new TV but nothing comes up. I have inserted the HDMI cable into slot HDMI3 on the TV and done what the manual told me to do and changed the TV to HDMI 3 on the tv but that doesnt work.

Should i need anything else to make the TV work with my PC.

Thanks for any info and hope you understand.

Have you cloned the display on the PC? Otherwise it wont be turned on.

I can only have the display on at 800X600 When i try to chane it to 1920X1080 it goes to the blue screen and nothing comes on. But at least ive got some where. At the moment im using the new tv to write this.

Re: PC to HDMI

I used a cheap DVI to HDMI connector from Tesco, and it works fine.

I plugged it in, turned my TV on, and my PC detected it straight away. Went through the new display setup, and it works on single, clone or extended mode.

I'm using an XFX GeForce 8800GTX.

you say your PC isnt HDMI, but it is NOW you have put an HDMI (or DVI) GFX card in there

why ?, its just two displays so you only need 1 monitor and other display, in this case the HD 32 inch Monitor/TV set as primary and secondary.

the "blue screen" as in the "Blue Screen of death", or just a "blue screen" as in, your second screen is set in "dual mode" without any background pic set and it's using the generic blue background windows colourset,so its just waiting for you to drag something from your primary monitor screen to the HD secondary screen ?

thats all you need do BTW,start an app and drag it to the second HD screen to have it display there.

you can also set the HD as your primary display and you will then get all your monitor stuff on there first as you boot up etc.

its a shame but Windows doesnt allow more than one single display device as a directX display ,AND it Most be set as the Primary display to use it for full screen DirectX gaming and video playback type apps, you can run anything in windowed mode OC but no DirectX use in these windowed screens.

iv not got around to trying it yet as i need to get a DVI to HDMI cable for the ATI power color HD3650/1gig, but do you get the new screen sizes come up after its auto configured the new HD display device?

and what sizes are then made available as the generic GFX card list/spec?, can you see only 1024/768, and 1920X1080 for instance! for that new HDTV display device ?

"But now it will not come on ive been trying for a week, if it doesnt come on soon im taking the TV back"

hmm, so you had the HD working but you didnt realise you could just drag app windows to it, and now its stopped working due to you changing some option!

the other possibility is your talking about the default option for most HDtvs ,if you dont have a signal coming into the selected port, its defaults to a blue screen to tell you its got no signal.

you can try this,im not sure it will work as i cant test it yet (no lead as above) but for the old composit out connections you could just unplug the monitor lead into the PC while the composit lead was pluged in to your tv and the tv turned on to automaticly activate that composit port as your primary display device as you power up and boot your PC.

doing that made windows use the composit out as the primary screen as it booted up no need to change any options in windowsXP etc.

so if i were you id try that simple test/option first.

switch the HDtv on, select HDMI3 (if its still pluged into that port as above) , unplug (not just turn off) the PC monitor from the back of the PC , then turn your PC on and boot up.

if its like the old composit connection , because your PC only has one connected device in its multiple output ports, it SHOULD try adn use that HDMI port as its primary display device, and you should see your usual booting options etc on your HDtv, IF its set up to work the same way as the old way , just try it, and that might tell you its working fine.

you just need to then learn how to change the Windows OS options to suit your needs later.

Re: PC to HDMI

Hi again. just to say still not working but ive brought a proper HDMI lead with the HDMI logo which cost me £29,99p. So going to try that tonight .

Also ive found out that something in my PC is one of its chip sets i think is a Asus and i noticed in the updates that my graphics card driver had ASUS EAH3870X2 Series on it but it wasnt installing it said failed all the time. So i went to Asus web site and downloaded the Asus EAH3870X2 series driver for my PC and installed instead of the driver from the main ATI web site. Ive even got a instruction book from my PC when brought about asus. But i find it complicated so ive not touched anything apart from downloading the ASUS ATI driver from there site. Its working but is this the right thing todo or should i download from the main ATI site.

Thanks.

Re: PC to HDMI

if your saying you pluged another PC with your new HD GFx card installed in there, and your same HDTV worked fine then it cant be the TV can it!

or did you mean you pluged it into another totally seperate HDMI capable HDTV you have downstairs ? in which case it may indeed be the first hdTV, to be sure id take that TV downstairs/or PC upstairs and try it on the known working PC and HDMI cable first.

it sounds like a bad setting in your first failed PCs OS needs sorting to me.

i have the same problem right now with getting a composit connected 2nd display activated and working.

its an OS registry problem, i may need to reinstall the OS from scratch to fix it if and when i make the time to try....

but ill probably jst get a DVI to component lead and DVI to HDMI long enough sometime before that to try first as im in no hurry right now.

for a quick test so as not have to reinstall an MS OS to confirm it really works.

if you have the time and the understanding you could always try and find a linux livecd with the http://search.virginmedia.com/result...0+X2+driver&cr=

installed and ready to use with that HDMI cable and let us know which one simply boots and works out the box for you if any....

Yes i mean that i took my PC and same HDMI cable what ive been using for my New TV downstairs, i didnt take the new TV down stairs just the PC and cables and tried the TV down staris And it worked fine the first time i switched it on. Also i have formated my PC loads of times and still does not work with my new TV up stairs.
