Re: PC to HDMI

Another up and i think its my graphics card whats the problem but want some advice please.

My PC inside as a chip inside or bord called a "ASUS". And also another chip or bord with an NVIDIA Name on it. So i put my old Nvidia 8400GS in and working fine using the RGB cable on my new TV but have corse not in 1080p. Is the ATI card conficting with something inside my PC?. Can i get some drivers or something to make this work or have you got to have a AMD pc to run an ATI card or can you use other pc's?.

Thanks.

I am trying to use the ATI Radeon DVI to HDMI Adaptor to conect the PC to my new TV but nothing comes up.

I have inserted the HDMI cable into slot HDMI3 on the TV and done what the manual told me to do and changed the TV to HDMI 3 on the tv but that doesnt work.

Should i need anything else to make the TV work with my PC.

Thanks for any info and hope you understand.

i went out and got a simple cheap DVI to HDMI v1.3 cable the other day , pluged it into my radeon DVI port two, and it just works, i got the instant "a HD device is detected..." and i had all the res's upto 1080i to choose from.

the only thing i can think of is ,have you tryed pluging that DVI to HDMI adaptor in the other DVI port as it may make a difference, it didnt for displaying on my VGA monitor through a VGA to DVI adaptor, but werth a quick try.

as is unpluging everything else including the VGA monitor lead to your monitor, leaving only the DVI to HDMI adaptor+HDMI cable into the HDTV, and powering up the PC, it should force the main signal to switch to that port and just work as per the old composit etc above.....

the only other reasonable option is to get yourself a DVI to HDMI cable or DVI to component cable and remove the DVi to HDMI adaptor+HDMi lead.

but you should'nt really need to do that , i still suspect its a driver thing as or your getting your HDMI and VGA port adaptors mixed up.

you have a DVI to VGA adaptor in the right DVI port going to your current old VGA monitor and have this other DVI to HDMI adaptor on the left pluged into a known working HDMI cable to the HDTV i take it!

perhaps a few screen captors of your driver page showing that drivers as installed or not as the case may be, and posted up here for others to see and get a better idea of whats happening.

no you dont Need an AMD PC if you have a AMD video chipset etc, just the right drivers, as is the case with any chipset, its nothing to do with brand as such as long as you use the right drivers for the given card or onboard chipset etc....

"i put my old Nvidia 8400GS in and working fine using the RGB cable on my new TV but have corse not in 1080p"

when you say RGB cable, do you mean a generic VGA cable going from your old Gfx cards VGA out to the HDTV's VGA input?

so we know the HDTV VGA input works, the HDMI input works...

we havent ruled out badly installed ATI drivers, old Nvideo drivers preventing the new AMD drivers working right, a very big possibility unless you uninstalled them properly OC,.

but then again, you do have a working AMD DVI to VGA monitor adaptor pluged into your old monitor and its fully working on that ATI card dont you !

Re: PC to HDMI

Hi Thanks for replying but i do think it is the TV what is at fault. I put my 360 the white one but on the cable its got an option to turn it to HDTV. It works fine in normal mode but when i changed it to HDTV mode it goes to the dule blue screen just like using the HDMI for my PC. Also while in normal mode ive gone into the display settings and tried all setting 1080p and 720 etc but still goes to blue screen mode. I have even tried changin the PAL settings (Pal60 Pal50) and dosent help either.

What do you think? thanks.

Re: PC to HDMI

Bit of update. My 360 is now using HD and 1080p using the Av component cable so it either my graphics card or PC. And to tell you the truth im giving up and just sticking to consoles from now on. I think PC's are too complicated for me. One problem with joypads i have to look at where the buttons are half of the time but with keybord and mouce i dont, so that is one draw back.

But yeah my next thing im going to buy if anything is a PS3 but i will use Xbox360 as well. But who knows when the next generation of consoles will come out after these. I predict 2011. also i wanted a blueray player but i might as well get i PS3 then i got added bonus for games if i wish.

Thanks for your help though.
