Information on setting up a sky system

I have a static caravan sighted at a place near Preston Lancs, and I thought I would have a go at fitting a sky system in it. I aquired an Amstrad digibox, and through Maplins a suitable Dish to suit ( the LNB has multi positions for different ares of uk,) and I also got a analogue meter to aid in setting up the dish. There are other caravans with sky on them and so initial rough setting was aided by looking at their position, and finally finishing off using the meter as per its instructions, ( both a visual and audible signal from the meter.). However the reciever displays no signal being recieved and when looked at for signal strength on the reciever display bar graph no reading at all? can any body throw any light on this please ( I have tested the digibox on my system at home and it works fine)

Re: Information on setting up a sky system

Faulty cable between the LNB and the Digibox?
Faulty connectors on one or both ends of the cable?
A dead LNB?

Ask one of your caravanner neighbours if you can plug your digibox into their dish just to triple-check that the box is not at fault; if you're very friendly with them, try to borrow their digibox and connect it to your dish. If you're confident that you have aligned the dish correctly with the meter, your digibox works in the caravan next door and theirs does not work in your caravan, then the problem has got to be with the kit you bought in Maplin.

I have moved this thread to a more appropriate general discussion area where it's more likely to be noticed.

Re: Information on setting up a sky system

Check that the receiver is set to the correct LNB type, (the type/frequency should be on the LNB itself), also and the most probably cause is that you'er on the wrong sat.

Just within a simple arc of 10 degrees either side is 10 different sats, try them one by one, moving to a strong signal and then checking the box...
