Installing Sky Dish

Just been having a crack at installing my old sky system for the freeview channels. I have a signal meter thingy in line nd that reads the sattelite as being there. I move the dish until that hits max then disconnected and pluggeed into sky box and it says no signal! Any ideas?

Re: Installing Sky Dish

Astra2 is at 28.2E, if you go just 10 degrees more south you get 4 more sats including the old analogue Astra1, go 10 degrees further East and there's another 5 sats...

Best to point your dish in the general direction, lock in on the strongest sat check if it's the right or wrong sat, mark the mount so you can find that spot again and tun the dish slightly in one direction till you find the next sat, check again, go on until the dish is definately out of the area, return the dish to the marked spot and ry again in the other direction.

One word of warning is that the further south you move the dish the higher up it needs to point, where as the further east the lower down it needs to point.. (hence steerable dishes are on polar mounts that automatically lower raise the dish when it swings round.
