Question Will Sky find out....

that after cancelling my Sky+ account a month ago, and having made my final payment, I am still receiving Sky One, Two and Three.
I only found out yesterday after testing the batteries in the remote control for the old old black Sky box (where the viewing card now sits) in the bedroom.

The reason I ask is because, a few weeks ago I posed a question about giving my neighbour the Sky+ box. We still haven't given it to him, and now I don't know if I should.
If we give him the Sky+ box, he will direct the split cable from our satellite dish to his house. We will still use the old Sky single cable on the old Sky black box, which is also coming from our satellite dish.

Will the fact that he activates his Sky viewing card to work with the Sky+ box (coming from our dish), somehow 'flag' Sky to realize that another signal is hitting our old box, and is still able to view channels that we are not supposed to.

Sorry, but does that actually read right?

Re: Will Sky find out....

He has got his own dish, he's having my sky+ box, and the split cable is connected to my dish. He already has the old sky black box - seems silly for him to pay out when I have one wasting away.

My question was, will sky find out that I am receiving channels that I shouldn't.

The reason being that we are/will be sharing a dish.

Re: Will Sky find out....

well why dont you put your LNB on his dish. also what channels are you on about ? your account is linked to your viewing card not your dish.

Re: Will Sky find out....

Regardless of the issues of legality of receiving a service that you are no longer paying for, you should be getting your neighbour to connect the boxes he uses to his dishes, not yours. You don't want to create a situation where, when you eventually wish to move house, you have created an easement (legal right) for your neighbour to be relying on services from your property.

Re: Will Sky find out....

agreed also say if you were to fall out it would course massive problems. he has a dish so i cant see what the problem is ? all you need to do is replace his LNB with yours, total cost = £0

Re: Will Sky find out....

I know someone who has had movies and sports on his/her sky box since august 1999 due to an error on Skys part. He/she has had 3 standard set top box replacements and 5 or 6 sky+ boxes and at least 3 card changes and has still got movies and sports free on his/her box.Even when he/she didnt subscribe to sky at all he/she still had movies and sports free

Re: Will Sky find out....

not bragging. This person called sky 3 times in the August to make sure his bill would be correct and sky insisted it was correct so its not their fault is it? I will not just sit back and let someone like you post to me like that thank you very much

Re: Will Sky find out....

What I posted is totally true. This person did attempt to tell sky 3 times that he/she had channels that they had requested be removed. Sky said they had removed these channels. What else can this person do? 9 years later they are still available on the box. Shame there isnt much worth watching on them they tell me. It is not their fault they did try to do the right thing but sky isnt free to call so im sure they are not gonna keep calling them over their mistake or error in equipment

Im sure ive told members of the NTHW clan Rob this tale and ive introduced you to the person lol
