I'm not forcing you. I know you don't work in the industry - however other people may be swayed by your username.

Re: Thinking of getting Sky.... but...
come on everyone.. thats enough...
Im choosing not to have Sky+ purely because I dont agree with the shocking price I would have to pay for the box itself.
What bothers me is I was told by the company DAS who are installing my service on the 15th that I would not have to pay an install fee. Now I am reading theres a £30 charge on the day.
Im just praying I can get shot of the VM without to much hassle. I have read all the horror stories.. lol

Re: Thinking of getting Sky.... but...
Yeah my original sky installation was like that, I didn't have to pay for the box or install but the box had to be connected to a phone line for the year

Whats shocking about the cost of the box? Sky supply it to you at a loss so you don't even pay the full price!

That's true...in fact when we got Sky+ we got a special offer so that we didn't have to pay for the box at all....but even so if you bought an off the shelf PVR it would likely cost around or more than the Sky+ box costs I would think.

i think that for what Sky receivers are capable of their not too badly priced, but i wouldnt say that their overly cheap either.

Sky+ or a HD box has Sky Anytime.
Sky subscribers also get access to the Sky Anytime download service via your pc, but you have to use specific software.

No nothing like vod, its downloaded overnight as a realtime record onto the hard drive of the STB and then presented as a menu of available programmes to watch.
No charge, but for example if you arent a Sky Sports subscriber you won't be able to watch the SoccerAM best of's.
