Question Built in freeview making strange noise

Hi,

A couple of days ago I bought an LCD T.V with built in freeview.

I have been watching it tonight and I have noticed a rather annoying noise coming from the T.V
It is quite a high pitched noise and sounds similar to crickets chirping lol
The noise is still there even if I mute the T.V
The noise can be louder on certain stations (I.E: ITV2, channel 4, QVC etc). On some stations the noise is barely even there.

Also, the noise is only there when I am watching freeview. If I switch the T.V over to analogue the noise isn't there.

I had a similar problem on a TV with built in freeview, but it was on both normal and freeview, a sort of high pitched whine. In my case it slowly disappeared over the course of that first week and will only return if I turn the TV off at the mains, if I turn it to stand-by I don't get it. Very annoying though, but to be honest Id forgotten about it until just reading your post.

PS Welcome to the forum.

Not sure what it is, but might be worth calling an engineer, or the support line for the TV..

Just be glad it's broadcasting sound on audible frequencies and not the international distress radio frequency..

Re: Built in freeview making strange noise

Well I took the T.V back to Argos this morning.
I got an exchange for the exact same model. I just set it up and did a scan for the freeview channels. Finds basically all the channels, but that noise is there again.

So it's either this brand of T.V or could it be my booster causing it?

This is in regard to a motherboard but it sounds like the same cause.

Hey,

Just thought I'd let you know the outcome...

I went and bought a completely different telly today from Bennetts.

I got a Humax LGB19DTT and it's fine... no crickets chirping!

So it must have been that brand/model of T.V or a faulty batch.
