You may have an HD-capable TV with a digital tuner but it will not pick up HD transmissions when they come along.

Re: Hd coming to freeview 2009
If the HD Freeview is being provided via satellite does that mean that Sky users will be able to receive the signals in the same way as they receive FreeSAT signals?

Re: Hd coming to freeview 2009
HD Freeview will, as with Freeview today, be transmitted over terrestrial TV. Not satellite. This is why they can only transmit it as analogue is switched off in each area.

Re: Hd coming to freeview 2009
Thanks for the clarification,Stuart.
Looks like we will be seeing a lot of boxes to convert/decode signals so that they can be displayed on a TV.
I have Freeview built into my TV so it looks like I will have to have my aerial connected to a box before it connects to the TV as my internal Freeview card will not be able to handle HD signals.
