Do I need an external aerial to get Freeview?

I'm thinking of getting a new TV with Freeview included. Can I do this using a bog-standard room aerial or must I have one on the roof? Any recommendations while I'm posting? I'd like a fairly small screen as it's for a bedroom.

Pop your postcode into the checker

http://www.freeview.co.uk/home

and see if you are in a strong signal area.

I use a set top antenna for my freeview box up here, but then I can see the transmitter out of my bedroom window (Sandy Heath)

Strange looking TV that one, looks more like a camera to me, not sure that aerial will work with it!!!

Well presumably you will get a bog standard aerial in the box, but I use the standard roof top aerial for ours which was installed yonks ago and didnt pay the extortianate money some are being quoted for so called " digital aerials " and it works a treat, just ensure you strip enough wire back to the co-axial plug into your tv and it should work better than the bog standard room one.
