Satellite V Cable

Hi, i have to admit i do not currently own a cable system.

I live in the UK and i know virgin media are the main cable company now since they took over from NTL and have done some research on it.

I know of the boxes you can get for cable that give you more than you bargain for shall we say.

looking at it cable only give's you 200+ channels, free to air or subscription, but the discussion i want to talk about is this:

Cable = jumpy
Cable = 200+ channels

Satellite = clear but affected by the wind
Satellite = 10,000+ channels with right system

Can i ask, do you lot do mainly satellite or cable? even looking at them stats satellite is the way to go, do you agree?.

I read that some sky channel's are not available on cable, but if virgin media stopped sky using a channel, all they could do is stop virgin1 and virgin1+1 so sky would be the way to go.

On my motorised sat system i can pick up loads of satellites from the uk, and i have loads of channel's, everybody i talk to recons stay with satellite, i have been quite lucky in a way, because everything i have done in the sat world has been spot on. As far as i can see it cable has no interest in my what so ever.

<edit Rob deleted - please do not refer to systems which do not obtain correctly subscribed cable services>

As far as i can see it, i'd be wasting my time with cable apart from one thing which may interest me. the world is alot wider in satellite, in cable it look's very limited.

Do any people on here run both satellite/cable? if so why?

Which do you prefer?

Have you ever looked into getting a satellite installation?

Re: Satellite V Cable

why is post reported?

on a satellite forum i go on which is the equivilent of this they allow it, just if you talk about more than you should be doing they ban it.

What is your problem? not as if i mentioned something i shouldn't of done, i could be on about anything, that's your imagination what made you think what you thought.

all i wonder is if people think satellite or cable is better

plenty of people use the satellite forum who do not currently own a satellite box. so in order to join this i must own a cable box, is it a crime if i don't?

You are being very harsh there, all i did was mention a few receivers and what setup i currently have. the rest is your imagination

Re: Satellite V Cable

Not imagination at all, you mentioned the use of illegal STB's to get cable/satellite services for free.

Re: Satellite V Cable

and? the boxes themselves are not illegal, its what you do on them that is, that i did not mention, I could be doing FTA.

You cable guy's are hard work, now i can see why people in the sat world detest you lot.

a post like that i would of gotten away with easilly on the sat forum, infact that's quite a clean post.

So can we get back to the discussion in hand or are you lot banning me for mentioning a few boxes which are available on the market?

I don't have to imagine - you typed it - it's there for all to read.

Sorry if I offended, but stealing of Virgin services is theft and not I'm not accusing you - I'm just pointing it out bassed on the fact you first said you don't currently own a cable system, but then you give details of what you do have...

Re: Satellite V Cable

To obtain cable services in the UK you do not own the Cable Set Top Box, but rent it as part of your subscription from Virgin Media.

This forum does not permit discussion of non subscribed services through STBs which have not been rented as part of the subscription which is against the terms of use of Virgin Media.
