[Merged] Setanta bidding War

A bidding war could break out for Setanta Sports after a European broadcaster offered more than 1 bln stg for the Irish pay TV group, according to a report.

Disney's ESPN last night emerged as the most likely suitor in the mooted €1.3bn sale of Setanta Sports, ahead of Richard Branson's Virgin and telecoms giant BT.

If Disney get Setanta, I wouldn't be surprised if they bid for ITV shortly afterwards. Disney have been interested in ITV for a long time and are a major shareholder in GMTV.
