I guess I'll have to wait another 6 months for another download that doesn't work.
Am I the only one having these problems?

Probably not - got my new top up tv card through the post the other day and its now making its way closer to the bin each day.

One of the lucky ones I guess mate.
I've not plugged in or used my top up tv since last october, gave up with it. Still, I've now got a brilliant service with VM.

Re: Thomson hard drive recorder and Top up TV
Well, Mine has the occasional problem like the fast forward rewind bug and it sometimes freezes if I have too much on the hard disk but all in all it's been great especially with the series links as BBC iPlayer was on the blink until my VM box got a software update the other day and whilst i'm saying that a little off topic, difference i have noticed:
1) On startup the display on the box has things like PL:13
2) Iplayer works
3) You only get the VM logo and not 'powering up, just a moment'
Well back to the Top Up box, seems to be fine for me so it is not abnormal for it to work well Jefferson T lol.
 ~Ben B~
PS- I ended up cancelling anytime after the first £5 was taken cause it was rather awful and took off personal disk space

Re: Thomson hard drive recorder and Top up TV
I have had one of these for over a year and apart from it falling over from time to time (turn it off; wait 30 seconds or so, back on again - problem resolved)...............it has been fantastic.
My problem is I have a life and cannot find the time to sit and watch the volume of stuff TuTv has recorded for me!
? Does anyone know for certain whether it will work as a stand alone pvr i.e. only recording what I require without subscription to TuTv?
Model is Thomson DTI 6300 - 25
Thanks.

Re: Thomson hard drive recorder and Top up TV
Yes, I only temporarily subscribed to the Top Up TV Anytime or 'TV Favourites' as it's called now and then unsubscribed after a couple of months. It will work as a normal PVR but make sure that once you have unsubscribed that you uncheck all the channels in the menu otherwise it won't allow you to use the full capacity of your hard drive.
Hope this helps,
Ben

Re: Thomson hard drive recorder and Top up TV

Re: Thomson hard drive recorder and Top up TV
Hi guys. Today I was just about to throw my thomson box in the bin, I'd totally give up on it. I'd been through everything all you guys had been through. So I thought I'll take it apart and see whats inside. To my suprise there was very little technoligy inside but there was a Seagate 160 gig hard drive just in front of that was a normal computer fan wich was totally clogged up with dust and stuff. I cleaned it all out with an artist paint brush all the time thinking that this was not gonna make any difference......how wrong was I...I put it back togeather and it now not only works perfectly but is totally quite as well.
So I guess if your havin a hard time with you boxes try taking it apart. Hope this gives you some hope in your endever with your boxes.
