Regional TV Stations

Hi

I have been on sky for ages now but i have something that is realy bugging me...

I bought and installed sky my self and while i was at it i got my self a cheap viewing card from ebay, (so i could get all the free channels) at the time i did not realise that buying a card which was from a different area other than where i live, that i would encounter problems.

When i say problems it is nothing major but for some reason (after about 3 years) it is starting to bug me..

channel 101 is BBC West Midlands
and ITV is ITV Central

Is it possible that i could do anything at my end so i could get channel 974 BBC London as my main beeb channel and ITV london 993 as my default station for 103

regards
simon

Re: Regional TV Stations

AFAIK you cant change it, its what we did when we had a flat in spain, took the viewing card with us, and my mother could watch eastenders to her hearts content.

You could try getting in touch with sky and telling them there is a fault, and it was working before, and they may replace it for you.

Re: Regional TV Stations

Apart from the fact that the address and name on the viewing card will not match the person calling in and therefor you won't pass DPA which means you will not even get to ask Sky for a new card that you didn't buy from them in the first place
If you want the free channels only then why not just buy a card from Sky?

I already have digital satellite equipment - what else do I need?
All you need to get access to the free channels available on the digital satellite platform is a freesat viewing card which costs just £20.

Re: Regional TV Stations

thanks for the reply...

TBH i am not all that bothered about spending 20 quid on a free sat card if i already have all the channels.... Like i said, i do get ITV London and BBC London, it is just a pain as i always end up seeing what is happening in Dudley or around that neck of the woods because i can not be arsed to press 3 buttons

thanx again
simon

besides.... hearing about a cat stuck up a tree is a wee bit nicer than hearing that yet another person has just been stabbed or shot

Re: Regional TV Stations

do a search on google for free Additional channels that are not on the EPG you find that every single ITV and BBC local channel is broadcast via Astra Digital and that you can store these on your sky box.
Its not perfect.
Or you could try the New installation option in the services menu, that might reprogramme the card to your new location.
