Re: tv/ computer set up

a little more info wouldn't go amiss? I am assuming your PC has a TV card?
If you are looking to get Freeview channels then you will need that card to be a DVB-T card, otherwise you are only going to get the analog channels.
If you are using a VM set top box, then you will need to tune the PC into the channel output by the RF section of the box, at which point you will only receive the channel currently being viewed by the box (same goes if you are thinking of sky)

Re: tv/ computer set up

How us the TV signal getting to the PCs TV card?

Is it via Set Top Box (this could be freeview, or a subscription service, Virgin or Sky)

What Type of HDMI connector is it? (From the sound of it it sounds like you've got a DVI tpye connector) Check the link in my signature about PC ports)

It should be just a matter of getting the led that can connect the TV to the TV card, and telling the display to out put via the relavant port

---------- Post added at 19:22 ---------- Previous post was at 19:20 ----------

What make is the TV card?

Re: tv/ computer set up

Right...

The decoder in the Ntl (now Virgin Media) set top box is a proprietary standard for cable tv.

It has several out puts

Scart plug
Coax
HDMI (on certain box's)

Coax sends out channels 1-5 on analogue and channel 56 which carries the tv signal that the box is tuned into.(Sky movies for example).

If you are talking about plugging and ntl cable directly from the box on the wall to the tv card then no computer is capable of decoding the ntl signal although ntl do (at the moment anyway) broadcast an analogue signal down their cable which in many cases can give you up to 13 channels.

To get anything close to what I suspect you are looking for you will need a dvb-t capable tv tuner card plugged into a roof Aeriel.
