After 4 years it's probably time for a new one. See what you can find on ebay.

Tell them you're cancelling your account then and open another account in someone else in the household's name.

If you want, I've got a voucher for a free Sky+ box for a friends, and I can get £50 of M+S vouchers if you use it!

Re: sky digi box on standby

Hold 'back up button' in on the box, not the remote, whilst unplugging power and then after 20 secs plugging back in again, after a while all the lights on the box light up and you should get a message on the screen concerning a software download, that is if it is connected via a scart lead. You can then release the 'back up' button. You might have to wait more than the ten minutes that it suggests on the message. If it does not work contact sky and threaten to end subscription, you have to mean it and be prepared to take it to the brink, they will, as a last resort, send out an engineer to replace the box free of charge as to loose your monthly subscription is a far bigger loss than the price of an engineer callout with a replacement box.
