Getting a Sky Cable through a cavity wall
Is there a knack to doing this, I stupidly pulled the cable back through while redecorating and am getting no end of troubles trying to get it to go!
Cheers in advance
Zeph

Re: Getting a Sky Cable through a cavity wall
Try a wire coathanger, straightened out. You should be able to push it right through the wall. Then tape the end of the cable to it, and pull it back.

Re: Getting a Sky Cable through a cavity wall
When you pull the cable back make sure you leave a downward hanging loop on the outside. This will make sure that any rain drops on the cable fall outside the wall and not end up inside it!

Yep, thanks for that solution, now to find that SDS drill I had hanging around I managed to get it in the end with a lot of frustrating fiddling but now I've put this socket on my wall and attached a 5m extension to it the signal quality is crap and keeps dropping all together on a few channels, is there any way to improve this?
Cheers
Zeph

Re: Getting a Sky Cable through a cavity wall
Have a look and check that there are no stray strands of wire caught in the connectors especially on the new socket plate. Are you sure you have a good eleectromechanical connection at all the joints?

I've redone the plate just to be sure there are no strands and it's still the same, the connections are all good. Cheers, very good checks

Re: Getting a Sky Cable through a cavity wall
There should be a hole somewhere. I remember when I had a sky cable put through the wall cavity. I think straightening out the cable and being as gentle as possible.
