Sky in 2 rooms

Hi,

I live in a flat, and I want to have sky in both the front room and the bedroom, which are just seperated by a door.

I'm not sure how you do this to be honest. I've seen splitters and coax extension cables on ebay (am I allowed to post links on here?) but I'm not sure if it would be this simple. On the back of the tv I only have aerial slots so I dont think coax cables will go in these?

Will I be able to use the same remote control on the tv in the bedroom, which I'll just have to tune in I presume?

Any help/advice much appreciated.

Thanks

Re: Sky in 2 rooms

This is very straightforward.
You simply need to run a coax cable (normal 75 Ohm arial cable) between the sky box and your second TV set. Connect one end to the 'UHF 2' socket on the sky box, and the other to the arial input on your TV. Now simply tune your TV until you see the Sky channel.

If you want to control the Sky box from this room, you need to purchase a 'magic eye' for £6 (look at Wizard Satellite). This simply plugs between the arial socket on the second TV and the feed from the Sky box. You will then need to activate the 12v signal on the second UHF output to power the eye. Press SERVICES 4 0 1 SELECT, and then choose the option to provide power over the UHF output.

CHECK YOUR WIRING FOR SHORTS FIRST !

The small red LED on the magic eye should light up.

Point the Sky remote at it, and you should be able to control the Sky box from this location. Note that both TV's will display the same channel. You can't watch two different Sky channels.

Re: Sky in 2 rooms

if u want multi room (so u can watch a different channel in the bedroom) u will need another sat feed from your dish.

if u are on a communal system you may find that your flat is only provide with 1 sat feed from the system if this is the case it is VERY unlikely that they will run a new 1 to ur bedroom.

this means your only option is to do what Tempest has suggested and run a decent cable (CT100/WF100) from the sky rec to your bedroom.

Re: Sky in 2 rooms

Thanks for that tempest, sounds easy enough.

iain, I'm not fussed about watching different channels in different rooms as I live on my own.

Thanks everyone.

If you find it doesn't work try this...

Quote:
Press SERVICES
Press 4 for SYSTEM SET-UP
Press 0 , 1, SELECT - you should now see the ‘Installers Menu’
Press 4 - ‘ RF OUTLETS’
Scroll down to ‘RF OUTLET POWER SUPPLY and right arrow to change to ‘ON’.
Make a note of the ’RF CHANNEL NUMBER’ generally this is set to 68
Scroll down to ‘SAVE NEW SETTINGS’ and Press SELECT to store the changes
Press BACKUP to go Back to your Sky channel
I got the information from http://reviews.ebay.co.uk/SKY-in-ano...00000001692441

I know The RF2 wasn't turned on at all by default on our sky digibox and had to be switched on in the installers menu.
