Digital TV in bedroom

####sorry i think this is in the wrong forum########

Hi,

I have standard VM digital tv downstairs and I would like to be able watch it upstairs in the bedroom and i'm wondering what options i have?

I don't have an aerial that can pick up freeview so i am limited in that respect.

Should i consider some sort of video streaming device or is their a way of connecting up a 2nd vm digi box?

any suggestions?

thanks

Re: Digital TV in bedroom

You have two choices. One is to rent a second box from VM. This is more expensive, but you get the option of watching different channels in the bedroom and living room (or wherever your main box happens to be).

The other option is to use a video sender from somewhere like Argos. Now, I have never used one of these, so can't really recommend a good one. Also, some have the ability to transmit remote control commands, but if your STB is a Pace one, you are likely to need a device called a redeye remote ( http://www.redremote.co.uk/ ) to translate the remote signals into a format the sender can use.

Re: Digital TV in bedroom

For a cheap and cheerful way of extending (what's already on your STBox) into another room, all I did with my setup was:

At the point where the normal TV coax comes out of your VCR (if you've still got one that is) to go into your telly, connect it to the common side of a two way splitter or (better still) a coax switch. Connect one of the other sides (of the splitter/switch) to go back into your telly and the remaining to a coax that runs up to your TV in your bedroom. This way, whatever is on your cable box downstairs you can watch up upstairs.

One note, if you wish to watch cable upstairs don't have your telly on downstairs, if you do you'll lose signal strength and end up with a poor picture.

If you're uncertain on how to do this, PM me and I'll send you a diagram. It's a cheap and easy way and it works. If I get responses from a few others then I'll put the solution up on the forum.
