I would hope as a fully paid up customer you'd have more information on the launch date! What install date did they give you?

Erm...
So no install date yet? Do you mean you should have an install date by the end of the month or it should be installed by the end of the month.
And you've paid but they still haven't told you what channels you get for your money?
As for me ordering it - have you read my contributions to this thread...

Re: Play TV?
Must admit that worries me - you don't have an install date and you paid them back in July (from what I remember of your first post).
I've always said that if the service proved itself I'd consider it for my father-in-law who can't get Sky or Cable TV and wants sports channels (although we're now looking at the Setanta Freeview packs). At this stage it's a loooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnngggggggggg way from proving itself.

I think it's fairly certain he won't be..
And TBH, it's sounding more and more like a scam.

Re: Play TV?
That'll be interesting to see. Sounds like you've spoken to them - did they give you an install date?

Re: Play TV?
Hmmm, the new website is still full of 'coming soon' messages for things like channel listings.
Maybe some of the old Ntl management team are working there?

Re: Play TV?
Where did you get the launch date from - I must have missed that?
I'll admit to still be (seriously) over cynical about the whole thing but while the website looks much more polished, it's opened up more questions than answers. They have prices but no details as to what you actually get for your money. Nor any mention of the catch to the "FREE" router, IP phone and Vehda box.
I'm also still curious about the "HD" service being offered on an "up to 8mbps" line. i.e. This isn't an unbundled service so won't get a particularly high average speed - definitely nowhere near enough to meet the needs of HD.
But, I'll be happy to be proven wrong and to be shown as nothing more than a grumpy old cynic!

TBH, we're sticking with VM at the moment - possibly shifting to Freeview via Linux box if they try anything with the prices. The potential to use Play TV was for my father-in-law who can't get Sky or Cable but would like some sports channels.
Either way, from what I see at the moment the answer is still a definite no. I just still don't see anything that indicates a good service from a company that knows what it's talking about. Perhaps I'm maligning (sp?) them, but if they can't offer even a partial channel line up on their web site with "more to follow" rather than vague descriptions of what the service will be with no channels at all then I'm not convinced they're anywhere near ready to roll.
83 countries worth of IPTV? Seriously, how many of those will you watch and what sort of quality are they going to be in?
