i do work for playtv, i wouldn't work for them if i thought it was dodgy and the product was crap.
right so the product, its kinda already been said by teaboy to be honest, but at work i usually am just selling the phone and broadband not so much the play tv.
phone and bb, not being funny but free calls to all uk landlines, 36 international destinations, no time limits, 60% discount to mobiles and premium numbers, vat and line rental included in the price, 2 meg bb no download limits..£19.99...does not that sound good? ive sold it to plenty of people..and oh no complaints.
had a little laugh today actually some guy on the phone said he'd looked at these forums and decided not to buy the product. apparently according to him all other big companies don't get slated in forums like this?
B*******
i've spoken to plenty of people on the phones who slag them off because they're so expensive and the service is crap.
then to stop them from leaving they refuse to give you your mac code or discount your monthly payment, then without telling you put it back on and pretend they never did it in the first place, hmmm good one...
Looking forward to coming back to see what people say next

Re: Play TV?
Oooh - my favorite thread!
Welcome back emily
If you've read this whole thread you'll remember that I've always said that I'd recommend this to my father-in-law if it could be proved as a good service. We've still not seen any evidence of that.
The lack of evidence combined with Sony's recent product launch of their own PlayTV brand (no relation whatsoever) has me worried people might sign up not realising what they're getting - or not getting. I thought that you'd made a significant, above expectations, market share when reading this the other day - only to find it was Sony's service, not yours.
I've said the whole way through I would love you be shown that it's a good service, but still not seen any evidence of that. Even craig, the die-hard optimist never came back with the promised photos after the install that we'd all been looking forward to.
All we ask for is evidence before shelling out hard-earned cash in what is now a much harsher commercial environment than when this thread started.

That's just it. No one here has actually seen it. In the meantime, if certain people are to be believed, they *have* been charged..

No, but they did provide more than just vague promises of a service, and some also advertised on established media..

The company can promise all it wants, but unless it delivers, people will complain..

He clearly didn't read the much of the forum then.. 90% of the complaints members post are about Virgin Media, with Sky and BT taking a fair size chunk of the rest.

Any company is going to have *some* customers who are upset. Sometimes it's because the company did wrong, sometimes it's because the customer misunderstood what was being offered. Some of these will want to leave. That is a fact of life. No one is suggesting otherwise. Indeed, if NTL hadn't fouled up so regulalrly in terms of customer service, this forum would not be here..
And of course, Play will never get to a point where it fails to issue a mac code..

Re: Play TV?
Does anyone no whether or not Play TV will work if i use one of the aerials that just sits next to the TV. If im not being clear what i mean is i my bedroom doesnt have an aerial socket so i bought one of the 'mobile' aerials from the hardware store. Is this likely to work?

I think there are far more fundamental questions over the workability of Play TV to be honest ... based on the available information I wouldn't advise you to buy it at all. That'll save you worrying about whether your aerial will work with it.
However, for what it's worth, Play TV is supposed to deliver programmes over an internet connection so I don't think an aerial is required (unless their box is designed to collect Freeview TV signals as well ... doubtless one of Play TV's army of 'independent' experts will be on here at some point, they should be able to say).

Re: Play TV?
Ah - there might be some confusion here (as I referred to earlier).
Sony are launching a PlayTV brand as a TV adapter for the PS3 - which is nothing to do with the company of dubious technology and even more dubious business practises.

Sony's release of their PlayTV for the PS3 must have been the best news this dubious company could have received, how many people will now get embroiled with this outfit thinking they are getting a Sony product.?
