Re: Play TV?

Beta Launch this Month
Launch Mid January is what we are been told.
A lot of the gearing up seems to be aimed at the porn market as it's Heavy stuff.
We understand interactive sex toys are available for this unit if that floats ya boat.

Yea, I've had a few guilty "oh **** moments if anything does happen, but to be honest I think what I've posted is more publicity for them on the positive side of things, unlike most of the negative remarks this product/company has been receiving all year.

If anything I think my dad should get a bonus for free advertising via this site
And of course comission would be sent to the admin

Mod edit (Gavin): Please do not try and bypass the swear filter.

I'm sure he will and I'm sure the commission is great!! I just hope for those that have being paying for quite a while now that the service does come through!!

Personally I still think it's a load of horse waste ( ) and even if it did work technically (which I have severe reservations about given Virgin has huge issues pq wise broadcasting) I do not see how a TV SUPER system as promoted by Play.tv can ever work given the current BT limited network.

Anyway, best of luck to all and I hope it works out for you!!

*** WOW *** Update Play TV can work on 2mbs broadband, and you record millions of channels at the same time .... WOW

EDIT: Sorry, I'm maube a pley tev employuee ns this servise is grate .....

Sorry, could not help myslef (feel free to delete)

Re: Play TV?

Just as broadband speeds are evolving so are compression technologies. If you had got a BT engineer from 25 years ago and demonstrated how much, at the present, that can be bunged down a twisted copper pair telephone line, he would have to have sat down for a while to take it all in.

That's a good question actually. Craigs installation date was 22nd November - I wonder if he has any update.

Re: Play TV?

I had a 30 min phone call yesterday from one of their sales guys trying to get me to sign up. I have just cancelled my Sky subscription so was intrigued by what they they were offering & was interested. He claimed that every premiership game was screened live which I was dubious about as I thought Sky / Setanta had exlusive broadcasting rights. I haven't got the technical knowledge of IPTV to know whether what they are offering is possible, feasible or realistic.

What put me off was :

1) I couldn't find out much about them,
2) He couldn't give me an acutal go live data - he was talking about January & when I asked him for an actual date he had to ask his supervisor & then said 1st Jan.
3) The price he quoted changed during the conversation. He started off saying it was £25 a month for BB, entertainment package & sports package. After checking with his supervisor (again!!!) it suddenly became £45.99 (including phone). No longer the bargain he was initially pushing.
4) Most importantly I want to see something before signing up to it!

After spending an hour reading this thread I'm very glad I said no. I'm a freelance web developer so having reliable BB is critical to me so this just seemed too risky to me. The sales guy said twice
Quote:
Sky are cacking themselves
. To me that shows the sort of unprofessional people they are employing.

If it does take off then great & I may re-consider but I think I'm going to get BT Vision. What I ultimately want is to pay for the games that I actually want to watch. I'm sick of spending £43 per month with Sky & then watching one game a month.
