Re: Play TV?
Hope WendyK reads this thread soon! Wasn't she the one giving them "two weeks" to get it sorted a few weeks ago?

Re: Play TV?
Bad news, the management at play tv have been reading this thread and have decided to pack it all in because you dont believe them. So your work here is done, go out and celebrate. What really broke them was the scathing attack by the ex employee who was a well regarded key figure in the development of play tv. So they are taking their multi million pound project and putting it in the bin.

So they are throwing millions of pounds in the bin uh? Me thinks they never had it in the first place.
Perhaps this "well regarded figure" saw how PlayTV were trying mug customers for money and decided the theft lifestyle wasn't for him. I'm sure many people here would back him for speaking out.

Somehow I can't see any company throwing away a genuine multi-million pound investment just because of a bunch of sceptics.
Financial Backer: How's my £10 million investment with you going? Do you think you're on track?
PlayTV: No, we canned it all because some people didn't think we could do it.
Financial Backer: Oh - don't worry about it, just pay me back whenever.
Yeah right!
TBH I wouldn't be surprised if what you say is true about them ditching it and liquidating the company though - especially after what I saw on the Equifax reports for both Play TV and GDB.

Ok. Look at it from our point of view.
This company starts phoning people, offering them a wonderful service at a cheap price.
This "multi million pound" company has apparently been set up, and licenced top movies and other channels without anything being said in the TV industry press (apart from a website run by Broadcast about IPTV).
The company seems to have no other publicity (where are the adverts?), and the company website doesn't bother to mention what channels people are getting. Also, I can find no mention of Play TV on the websites of some of the channels people on here have claimed will be on it (even where they do mention being on Sky and Cable)..
Also, they have repeatedly missed installation dates. Now, I have worked on large projects before, and I know that things can go wrong, and delays can occur, so this doesn't bother me too much.
In the meantime, if some of the posters here are to be believed, they *have* started taking money. This, if true, *does* bother me. Taking money for a service you aren't providing is either fraud or theft.
OK. so some people have registered on this forum (and, I dare say, others) and said they have recieved their boxes and are happy with them. Assuming this is true, I say good luck to them. We also have a few people who have registered saying they work for the company or have seen their engineers in training.
Oddly, however, those people only seem to have posted in this thread (or other threads to do with Play TV). People tend not to do that on this forum unless they have registered to post about a problem (the basement does seem to attract a surprising percentage of our membership).
No, I do not mean to imply anything, but can you see why people are assuming this is a scam?

What rubbish.
Just because a few people on a forum question the service and if they can deliver it, they decide to give up after spending millions on it so far.
Surely the thing to do would be to get stuck in, get the service started and start installations.
I don't believe this for one second.
Either this proves it never existed in the first place, or you are just spreading rumours.

Clumsy sarcasm, based on the misapprehension that we're trying to force Play TV to fold. Personally I couldn't care less whether they survive or not. This is a free country, they have every right to try to market a product and we have every right to put on record their apparent inability to make it work as described. Job done.

Re: Play TV?
I personally have no particular interest in Play TV. If they provide a service people are happy to pay for, good. If they don't provide a service, and still take money, then I'd like them to stop.
