Mate - you're a plank.
You don't come to a forum like this and plod your warez - you'll get nowhere!
I'll be very surprised if you get a 0.001% take up on your offer.
Your marketing budget must run into...well at least £1.75p!
Edit - JUSt read the other threads on forums...alarm bells are going and screaming AVOID!!!!!

oh dear... i think you must be the plank on the forum mate, probably quite a thick one at that....! your proberly right with your ratio of how many will take me up on this offer, as im not a 'plank' im very aware of the people these forums attract, short minded equivocal fools like yourself who would only touch our wareS (S mate in wares not Z you plank!) if it had been nationalised like the rest of the companies you are probably with (British Telecom, British Gas etc) im afraid to say these companies are privatised now so maybe you should take yourself away and set up your own communist 'democracy', ill point you in the right direction to get you started www.bnp.org.uk.
My marketing budget obviously was £0.00 and my motivation for writing it was the unforeseen negativity which seems to stir in forums amongst those who are tactless or in school boy terms '**** sterers'!
sorry for a strong reply but your post is thoughtless and isnt fair, the product is great and you should be supporting new UK companies not hammering them with verbal crap!
regards the teaboy-------look forward to your reply....

Re: Play TV ??
Sorry Rob - Will get back on topic once I've had a short reply:
I know how to spell wears - I was using it as a slang term in this instance.
I wonder what David Reynolds will think of a member of his staff suggesting that a potential customer goes and joins the BNP on the basis of 4 line reply?
OK then Teaboy - care to give us a list of your 700 channels?

Re: Play TV ??
ok short answer to stop our little dispute! bnp from a four line reply.... think about it read between the lines, i want you to be more receptive to the new company more broad-minded. And see now i have accomplished that, you are now asking about the channels maybe you will be the 0.001%!!!
AnywayZ i will go ahead, channel one is....... : ) Right ok as in the last post its pretty much all the same channels but without the sky branded channels, so instead of sky sports 1,2,3 you get the setanta channels, no sky one but you still have sky three which comes on freeview which shows new programmes which appeared on skyone a couple of days later. swings and roundabouts.....

Still happy with Sky thanks...and if VM were to over come over and cable up the new development I live at, I'll be phoning them for phone, internet and TV.

Re: Play TV ??
As you saw from my earlier reply to this thread I'm extremely dubious about the whole thing (given you've only been in business for 7 weeks). As this is an IPTV service, how about you explain a few things:
- No mention is made on your website that it'll hammer the broadband usage of customers. My father-in-law would not have been happy to sign up to your service and find a massive bill from BT for overuse of his connection.
- The blurb also mentions the HD box. From memory, the average broadband rate in the UK is still around 2.5Mbps. Last time I checked, HD needed a hell of a lot more bandwidth than that (and that's assuming we ignore the latency issues of using the internet for something like that).
- How come you've only been in business for 7 weeks and use an accountants as the business registered address?
Personally I'm happy with the VM service we have, but for someone like my father-in-law who can't get Sky or Virgin if there was a viable proven alternative he'd sign up like a shot.
(On the plus side as it's mainly sports channels he's after, I did find as a result of this that Setanta offer an IPTV service which he's thinking about ).

Re: Play TV ??
Lsainsbury oh dear (again!) your very belligerent, why dont you take a page out of brundles book, those are the questions that i want to hear and others too!
heres the answers:-
1) The company has only been trading since the July and the date this goes live is September
2) Most Broadband conections are unlimited downloads however this service only needs half a megabyte of speed to work
3)Pictures do not come through on HD as there are only a few things filmed with true HD film, what the box does is pixallates to make it to a HD standard on channels which dont come through as HD.
Thanks for the good questions,
And also regarding your father-in-law if he were to buy the setanta channels from us instead of just through freeview he would also recieve other sports channels such as Eurosport and also a media library of 80,000 film/tv shows and sporting events to watch at any time which 80% is free.

Oh dear - again!
Unlimited? You REALLY need to do your homework on that before launching this service.

Not quite the answer I was looking for. I'm not going to recommend anybody signs up to a contract with a new company selling a new product - even in the best of cases. And the links that other forums have made to PlayTV is a long way from the best of cases.

Unlimited downloads? Only if you pay a premium for the connection. As someone who rarely uses broadband my father-in-law is on the 5GB monthly limit with BT and that does him just fine. Of course there are penalties with BT for stepping over the limit (although other providers restrict the service when you overstep it - not good half way through watching something). I'm really not convinced about the picture quality you can get with a half meg connection.

There's actually alot more than you think filmed as HD source - even down to soap operas. One of the reasons that the Aussies wanted to hike the price of Neighbours with the BBC was so they could get back some of the cost of starting to film in HD - which their competitor soap Home & Away apparently allready does.
Basically rather than actually providing an HD service it upscales? And upscaling on a signal fed through a half meg connection speed (assuming propriatory, extremely lossy compression to get the bandwidth requirements that low) is going to be awful. Even upscaling to SD resolutions is going to look pretty lousy.

Re: Play TV ??
Well Derek - I think this thread must have given an insight as to what they are offering.
Perhaps in December we'll see how PlayTV are getting on...

Re: Play TV ??
Yep, at the very least it's confirmed a few things I was told were complete fabrications in order to try and get a sale.

That's pushy salesmen / salespeople for you! They work for most companies - unfortunately.
I hope Teaboy2 stays with us until December so he can tell us how many subscribers they have - I'll take a pot shot at around a few thousand but nowhere near the quoted figure.
Wonder when WatchDog is back on BBC one?

Re: Play TV ??
Wow, you guys have been busy whilst I was MIA. You have asked all the questions that I tried to ask the very pushy young lady who phoned me. It was vertually impossible to get a word in edge wise with her.
Not only did you ask the questions but you got the answers as well.
Thanks to LSainsbury and brundles I think that I will also stay with Sky.....better the devil I know.
A big thank you to the above mentioned gents.
