sky+ box keeps making beeping noise.

can anyone tell me how to stop sky+ box from making a beeping noise, it stops for a while then it starts again, i only got sky+ yesterday. thanks for any help.

When is it beeping? Ours doesn't beep at all.Think there is something in the manual about turning of beeps (page 55 http://www1.sky.com/userguides/skyplus.pdf) but you may need to make sure everything is working ok as ours runs silently.

I got my Sky+ box on Wednesday same type as yours and mine doesn't beep.

Have you checked that all cables are plugged in correctly, including Phone cable.

Are there any system messages on screen, you could try an update hold down back button on box and reset power.

whats the latest software update as i dont want to try any updates in case i mess up all the channels.just switched of box now, its still makeing beeping noise.

i can see the back button on box but cant see the reset power button, sorry if im being stupid, i just want to get rid of the beeping.

My Box has the following: -

OS 1.31B00
EPG Sky+ 4.10.c

Have you run the system health check? (Might need CS though)

As a last resort there is also a beep on error [on / off] function within the sound menu, you could turn it off until an enginner gets to you, but I'm surprised you don't have any onscreen messages.

PS When engineer installed my box he told me to do an update in 2 weeks time as this should install the Sky Anytime function on the Sky+ boxes.

EPG is 5.02.f

i tried turning off the beep error didnt do anything, but ill try it again, i already have anytime on my box but i turned it off last night to see if that would fix problem my box is amstrad drx 280, pvr3 not a refurb so i cant see why its makeing that beeping noise. thanks for your help so far.

I've just upgraded my box for anytime and it now shows: -

OS 1.31B03
EPG 5.02.f

No beeps reported so it maybe your box that is faulty, I would ring CS/Faults and get them to check the box for you.

Turn box off at wall switch, hold down 'back up' button on the box not the remote and turn the box back on.

Wait for 4 or 5 buttons to light up on the box then release the 'back up' button, message on tv screen should say updating and will take about 7 - 10 mins.

thanks for that, ill see if it is still makeing that noise when i get home tonight, if it is ill try it,if i do try upgrade will i have to wait for all my channels to come back on again.

Did they send you a refurb box (comes in a brown box) or a new one like mine (white box)

i got a new one,i was well shocked,i wasnt going to say i should of had a refurb.
