Sky Tv, phone and Internet
Just to let you know I swapped VM for Sky. I was happy with NTL, then Virgin took over and all went t**s up. The picture was poor, freezing and the football was a joke.
What I have now is far better, Sky+ is something else and the internet (Im on mid) is giving me 5 megs + for £5.
I was on the XL package with Virgin but am saving £15 per month with Sky. That includes internet and phone, including BT line rental of £11. The missus is pleased to have Sky 1,2,3 and even Sky travel back and the picture quality is very good, like it was when I had NTL.
I was with Cable and Wireless then NTL for 13 years but with VM for only 1 month. You do have options.

Re: Sky Tv, phone and Internet
Apart from the internet, I would think Sky is viable anywhere in the country.

Re: Sky Tv, phone and Internet
Pleased that you are happy with your new services.
You did the right thing - you were unhappy with the VM services, so you moved.

I'm paying £74 compared to £85 for one year, then I would have to pay an extra £10 for the second set top box, making it £95.
Sky+ is great and the picture quality is far superior.
I am p*issed off that VM have messed up a once great cable company.

Virgin haven't messed up a once great cable company. In fact Virgin have had nothing to do with any problems. NTL are still running the network. NTL bought out Virgin Mobile and the rights to use the Virgin Brand.
Oh and good for you. I and I'm sure many others couldn't care less if you've got Sky or Cable, as long as you're happy

Re: Sky Tv, phone and Internet
bit of advice if your going to use sky broadband download the following program as it does wat the router cant. i mean keep the connection alive
bounceskyrouter171.zip
what the program does is check 3 websites periodically and if it cant connect it automattically reboots the router for u. saving time disconnecting the router reconnecting it. and also saves u money on calling up sky's tech support (9am-5pm in the UK 5pm-9am india). trust me they dont know anything. i spent over a month battling with them and then i use the internet connection over a mates find this program and the connection has been up for 8 hours and counting compared to 5 mins- 2hrs. goodluck sweepster with SKY BB u will need it

Re: Sky Tv, phone and Internet
I think that I have about had it with VM.
I have had around 8 call outs in the last 6 weeks, mainly due to freezing screen, slow remote reaction, stalling channels.
They have replaced every piece of equipment during that time.
They also did some work inside the network box in the street.
Nothing improved. On saturday it was dreadful and I have not been able to access any VOD services. They said it needed for specialist engineers to investigate and they would call me within 72 hours. Noone called me back.
I phoned on Monday and again they said the engineers would want to speak with me...so I been waiting..Today I phoned again and now apparantly they are having a major problem throughout my area and it could be offline until 18th June! Such madness..!
I am planning to let this all continue and am logging everything.
In the next 72 hours I intend making an appeal direct to Branson via a YouTube broadcast.
They continue to fail to delivery any real level of service.
The engineers that visit are demotivated and dont seem happy in their work...
I always make them a coffee and chat with them...they seem frustrated and all confirm that the Network itself is knackered is old and out of date..
Personally I cannot see VM making it. On paper it all seems so wonderful but in reality it is dreadful..
Is there any formal body we can band together to take action against them - they are not providing the service they promise us..surely there must be some way we can stop them signing up new customers..
I will post my YouTube link on here once I have broadcast it.
I hope to show the Screen Freezing, the error messages - if I get an engineer maybe a short clip of him/her pretending to fix the service.
Anyone interesting in joining me take action against them please get in touch..

I think the reason why people are p***ed off, Is that instead of spending money on much needed improvements to the infrastructure and workers they waste 20 Million plus on actresses and a re-branding exercise

I can see where you are coming from but which areas need improvments? There are only less than 1% of Virgin Subscribers on here and it is a common fact that people come onto the forums to complain and try to get resolutions, so in my eyes it seems that less than 0.5% of Virgin's subscriber base is unhappy.
I just fail to see, when the service is running well, that the entire network needs improving? For example we already have better technology than certain satellite services, VOD, 20meg broadband, the list goes on...

Do you have a link to this program? I Googled for it but could only find version 1.1.1. From the name of the file you posted it seems that is version 1.7.1?

Re: Sky Tv, phone and Internet
Can you link Sky to a Virgin phone line, or does it have to be a BT line?

I have Virgin/telewest phone and broadband and sky + TV so you dont need a BT phone line.
