Freeview satellite decoder at B&Q
Just seen a freeview satellite decoder and dish on sale at B&Q for about £70 IIRC. We have poor aerial reception and I'm wondering if this set up might enable us to access freeview in another manner. The equipment boasts access to 100's of free channels including many from overseas.
Anyone got any thoughts?
Cheers

Re: Freeview satellite decoder at B&Q
I suspect this is just a normal free-to-air satellite receiver kit. Ther are many about. If you can wait long enough, your local Lidl may well have another offer soon which will probably work out a little cheaper.
Be aware though that, at the moment, you will not be able to get all of the channels available on Freeview.
Check out KingOfSat for a full list:
http://en.kingofsat.net/pos-28.2E-fta.php
http://en.kingofsat.net/pos-28.5E-fta.php
(Astra [28.2E] and Eurobird1 [28.5E] are so close together you'll be able to receive both without moving the dish)
Some missing channels are availableif you get a pukka Sky box and one of their 'free-to-view' cards. The situation keeps changing as Sky and the channel providers dance around each other.
Alternatively, add a motor and you'll be able to receive thousands of channels from around the globe. Have a look round these sites:

Theres lots of sky digiboxes on ebay quite a few go though for under £30
if you need a freesat card for them you can get one from sky (or at least according to the Q&A on that site you can, it costs £20 for the card)

Re: Freeview satellite decoder at B&Q
Does anyone know if you can buy an extra Sky STB from Sky if you have FreeSAT installed by Sky?
It would create a sort of FreeSAT multiroom.
Any info would be appreciated. TIA.
