Sky are desperate
Ok I tend to ignore obvious call centre numbers on my landline but this number had been bugging the hell out of me constant so I answered ready to give a peice of my mind however it was Sky with a really surprising offer. They said you had Sky + and asked if I still had the box. I answered no I got rid so she said ok you can have a new one free, free installation no sky + subs,25 quid creditied to my account and I could have it with any package I want including the 2 packs for 15 quid. On top of that no minimun term contract. Snapped their hands off just means I got an extra box for when V+ goes fubar . Think I still ok ill use Sky for tv (had family pack) and will still be getting value out of my VIP pack with all the Vod I do watch.

So Sky are still offering *incentives* to keep their customers. I thought as much.

Re: Sky are desperate
Apparently Sky+ will be free to all customers starting June 2007.
They're targetting ex Sky+ customers now then going live in June for all existing & new customers. Usual £99 applies for the Sky+ box.

Re: Sky are desperate
Surprisingly enough my dad phoned them last night to cancel sports channels as the Football has ended, and he also wanted to cancel HD as there's nothing on the channels that we watch, and he found out a lot of customers have been cancelling HD for the same reason. Just makes me wonder a) why did Sky even bother launching HD and b) how much money have they lost by customers doing this.

Re: Sky are desperate
Sky have been doing this for a while. When we left a few years back they made a couple of different offers - nothing like as generous as these though I must admit!

I've heard that the Sky+ charge is being dropped soon... although from 1st July 2007.
The rumour has been doing the rounds for a while, but has been getting stronger recently.
Seems fairly likely, from what I've read on other sites. Various people have got Sky to drop the + charge as a retention offer, & been told that from July no-one will have to pay it anyway.
Apparently Sky want to eventually make the Sky+ box the standard STB, in place of the normal Digibox.

No it most certainly has not. We're on SS1 on friday night, and hopefully again on May 27th (though I shall probably be in London then!) touch wood.
