not working aerial

Hi, I bought an indoor aerial from argos: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...er/5344008.htm
I think I set it up right but it only says no signal I haven't got a single channel on it atm. Is there something I may have done wrong?
Thanks dave.

Re: not working aerial

What are you using it with? Have you searched for channels?
Do you live in a strong signal area?

Re: not working aerial

yea i seached for channels weith the freeview box its doesn't find any.
On one website it shows where I live as in a freeview area and another website show nearest transmitter as Brighton- 12miles and aerial sugestion is; Amplified extra hi-gain. The aerial I bought is the same as that right?

Re: not working aerial

I think you'll find this is the important quote

"Suitable for all TVs and videos and use with digital TV and Freeview in strong signal areas"

Try repositioning the Antenna, often you will get best results placing it by a Window.

How hard can it be

Re: not working aerial

Do you live in a house or a flat? Im just wondering because we have put a High Gain Exterior Aerial across a couple of boxes in our attic and run that down to the Freeview box and get an absolutely perfect signal.

Re: not working aerial

Freeview can be very picky. I live about 12 miles from the Hannington transmitter and got a full size high gain aerial to go in the loft - hardly any signal at all.
Stuck it 6ft above the chimney (£50 to aerial installer) and I have a reasonable Freeview signal.
I think this is the one I used.

Re: not working aerial

We have an old aerial outside which gives a slightly low strength signal but we use a powered amp/ splitter box in the loft to boost the signal and split it to the televisions in the house. We now get crystal clear signals to both TVs and we get all available freeview channels at nearly 100% signal strength. Might be worth a look at screwfix
