TV connection with freeview and cable

I have a TV with integral freeview, cable and recordable dvd player. Is it possible to watch freeview and tape cable and vice versa. I am not sure if I have connected everything up correctly. Many thanks.

Re: TV connection with freeview and cable

I think it depends what outputs/inputs you have on your telly, DVD recorder & cable box...

Can you give us details, model numbers etc?

Re: TV connection with freeview and cable

You could try:

"TV" SCART from the cable box to the 1st SCART on the TV

SCART from the DVDR to the 2nd SCART on the TV

"VCR" SCART from the cable box to the other SCART on the DVDR

This is assuming that:

The 1st SCART on the TV is the main one, e.g. input only.

The 2nd SCART on the TV can act as an output as well as an input (should do if it's got built-in Freeview - my Samsung does, as otherwise you'd not be able to record it).

The SCARTs on the DVDR can act as inputs & outputs (so it can receive from the cable box on one SCART, and receive from the TV, and send to the TV, on the other).

You should be able to record cable while watching Freeview or cable.

You should be able to record Freeview while watching Freeview.

Not sure about recording Freeview while watching cable... the TV may have to be viewing the Freeview channel you want to record.
