Pace V2 Fan Noise

I have a Pace V2 box and the noise of the fan when it kicks in is a quite loud whirring - i can hear it above the TV from the other side of the room? It seems to come on for about 30 mins then go off again for a while. It mostly come on when the hard disk is recording and im watching something.

Is this normal or do i have a faulty box?

Re: Pace V2 Fan Noise

According to some of the posts on Digitalspy this is quite usual with some of the Pace boxes. They recommend fitting a fanmate to the box to slow down the fan.

I can't say I've noticed any fan noise from my Amstrad and it even runs cooler than the previous Pace Ntl boxes.

Re: Pace V2 Fan Noise

Yeah, i've looked at all those sites and the people on there - but this one is genuinely quite loud.

I am getting the box replaced to see if its a faulty fan but if the new one is the same i will run the fan permanenly off the 5v line on the Hard Disk, this makes it run a lot slower (and thereby much quieter), but keeps the temps down too.
