Unhappy EPG Remote Record

I have a Sony VTX750U Sky box and a Panasonic DMR-HS2 DVD RECORDER. I opted for this set-up rather than Sky+ because I only need the family package, and I can archive to DVD any programme that I decide that I want to keep off the hard drive. It should work in theory !! The personal planer is supposed to switch to the correct channel at the correct time and send a signal to the recorder to start recording when the External link is enabled on the DVD.

In reality what happens is that the Sky box Switches to the correct channel but is late sending a signal to the DVD. Hence the beginning of a programme is always missed.

This is definitely a problem within the sony receiver, because if I press the select button on the sky remote to display the EPG it shows the red (A) and the statement "This programme has already started". At this time the Recorder should be recording, but is still in stand-bye mode (External link). At the same time as the EPG display on screen, the Recorder wakes up and starts recording. Therefore there isn’t a problem with the wiring.

Anyone out there using this system or similar and experienced the same problem.
