As far as I can tell, what you are saying is that when you try to log on to "xxxxxxxxx.net" you lose your internet connection. Is this correct?
You say you have a cable modem, so what happens with the status lights on the front? Do you lose the steady SYNC and RDY lights? Are the U/S and D/S lights still flashing?
Do you have a firewall or other software that shows what traffic is going in and out of your system? If so, does it still show traffic both ways? Only one way? Neither?
The more information you can give and the clearer you can be with your explanations the easier it will be for others to help you.
