I wanted sky fibre pro unlimited which is only available to order by phone. I found the process to be quite painless and gave the Agent 10/10 in the ensuing questionaire. I swapped my BT phone to sky talk in the process. The installation was completed without incident and the BB is fantastic (so far anyway).

The only caveat I have is, in keeping with VM and BE, they try to tie you down to using their HUB. With earlier devices it is relatively easy to extract the hard coded skyusername/password to enable connection to a 3rd party router, in my case, however, I was sent their latest Hub SR-101 which to date has not been cracked to allow extraction of the necessary data.

For me the Sky Hub is streets ahead of the superhub stability and wifi wise but it does have failings in the firmware. For instance it has failed dismally to accept reserved IP's. After entering 4 and rebooting it the list was screwed up. It would not let me edit or delete so each time I ended up resetting to factory defaults. As it only has 100mbps ports I've ended up piggybacking my RT-N16 to it which, so far, is working well.

As for the sky website, on Wednesday my sky+ box gave up the ghost I used the live chat to order a new sky+HD box which is coming on Monday. Once again, quite painless. I gave the Agent 10/10 again.

Re: Which FTTC Provider?

Will probably go with sky... I imagine the hub will be cracked soon enough to get the required info to use my own router (will probably end up getting the E4200)

Ill only be getting broadband so if ive got that right thats £30 for broadband and £14.50 for line rental so £44.50 a month?

That's seems right to me.

I hope it works out for you.

I've only had it for a couple of weeks so it's early days but so far it has been absolutely solid. Speeds have been consistent 24/7

Re: Which FTTC Provider?

Another vote for sky here! had it 2 weeks now. Not a single reboot of the modem or router.
Speed been rock solid as well. Only on 40 meg, so a lot slower than my Virgin used to be but a hell of a lot more stable!!

Ehmm...

AAISP is 12 months
ADSL24 is 12 months
Aquiss is 12 months
Claranet is 12 months
Eclipse is 12 months
Fast is 12 months
IDNet is 12 months
Sky is 12 months
Vispa is 12 months
Vivacity is 12 months
WebTapestry is 12 months
Zen is 12 months

... that's 12 out of 16.

Only 3 are 18 months:
BT, TalkTalk, and Plusnet.

3 out of 16 is "most"? You sure have a distorted idea of most.

Re: Which FTTC Provider?

Well, just been on the online chat on skys website, the agent insisted the only fibre package they offer is 40/2, I insisted sky do a 80mb package and he said it doesnt exist, I told him it did, so he went to check, got back to me 2 mins later to tell me it wasnt available in my area

Now unless sky havent upgraded their capacity in my area I dont know, but the BT checker gives me

BT Infinity
Superfast fibre optic broadband
Great news! You are eligible for superfast BT Infinity.
66.9Mb download
20.0Mb upload
