BT Infinity or Sky fibre?
Right Virgin media in my area have gone right crap with a minimum 3 week lead on fixing a major issue.
Basically I am paying for 100mb and getting about 0.5mb for about 14 hours. I normally get 100mb at 1am.
Anyway. I can get about 76/18mb on BT Infinity. And 40/10 or so on Sky.
I used to have Sky at a older house closer to the exchange and I liked it. Well more then I like Virgin atm.
So any opinions?
Cheers.

Re: BT Infinity or Sky fibre?
I thought Sky did a 80/20 option as well.

Just moved to sky a week ago, went for the 40 not the 80 though. Had it installed for a week and the connection has been rock solid. Breath of fresh air after the virgin hub rebooting at least once a day!

Re: BT Infinity or Sky fibre?
Got the new hub, seems very stable but only runs at 144mbps on the wireless and the ports are 100mbps rather than gig. Bar from them 2 niggles it seems good!

BT Infinity, they may offer unlimited anytime calls free for 12 months as well and this includes 0845 and 0870 calls, Sky charges extra for 0845 numbers.
Also BT line rental saver beats both Sky,TalkTalk and Virgin Media line rental costs.
In the meantime contact Virgin Media about your internet issues and get them to sort it out and give you some kind of incentive.

Re: BT Infinity or Sky fibre?
There is only one problem with BT Infinity.
You have to sign up with BT to get it.

Agreed but why do you want a 300mbps mode when it can't do 5ghz. I'm on Pro and am getting 75/16 on 144mbps/2.4ghz so speed isn't an issue.

Yeah that is my main niggle
To me it's more like VM's first hub which for me, unlike the superhub, was stable with good enough wireless.

Most companies use 0844 now, which everyone charges to call.

And Sky and TalkTalk's 12 month upfront payment options both beat BT's Line Rental Saver. So what's your point caller?
The attraction of the Sky package over Infinity or Virgin would the Truly Unlimited part - no traffic shaping or STM.

For when you get fed up with 100mbps ports and happen to have a spare N router with gigabit ports lying around.
Check out the link to Using the D-Link DIR 613 in post#5 for a step by step to piggy back with a cable modem.
It will do until someone cracks how to directly connect with your own router when using a SR-101 on fibre.

Re: BT Infinity or Sky fibre?
Or just plug a £20 gigabit switch in?
