Hi All,

I have recently moved to a new house conversion and have broadband set up by Plusnet.
The speed is quite slow comapared to last property been getting around 2.2mb
Thing is i've looked at the wiring into the flat and looks like the BT engineer has connected my line to someone elses in the building rather than a new line from the telephone pole.
I wanted to know can this affect my download and upload speeds?

Although telephone cable often has multiple pairs of wires, frequently only some are needed for a service. It might be nice to have your own dedicated cable, but two lines can often be routed on the one cable if there are enough separate pairs within that cable.

Unfortunately ADSL based speeds are often most dependent on distance from the exchange and quality of the overall line between you and the exchange. Your ISP should be able to help you identify if you are reaching your proper potential speed.
