Re: BT Infinity installed

Lol Seph, pretty clear where the incredibly low jitter scores in the OFCOM report are coming from

i am thinking of going with 40 gb...
if that proves not enough i can always upgrade to the the unlimited option and i guess it wont affect the duration of contract...

Re: BT Infinity installed

Can vouch for BT Infinity as being decent. Had them for about a year now and apart from needing two engineer visits to rectify line faults, it's been solid.

I get 38Mbit down / 8Mbit up and consistently so day and night.

It's a very good product considering the alternative would be about 2Mbit elsewhere.

But we're moving in March and they don't offer it at the new address so we will have to part. :-(

For anyone wondering, it's very good for gaming and the uncapped access does actually mean that. There are no caps.

The only thing they hit shaping wise is torrent upload speeds, which I don't see as a problem. I'm a newsgroup guy.

Not yet.

Did you have to reboot the line to see it?

Did you ask for it, join the trial or did it just happen out of the blue?

Re: BT Infinity installed

I'm seriously beginning to think of switching to Infinity - evening speeds are rh00bosh, Youtube has always been garbage (but I'm wanting to use it more) and I very rarely use torrentz these days. For the odd occasion when I do, how badly do they perform on Infinity?

I have to admit torrents perform very badly during the evening hours, but there are settings you can change in utorrent that will greatly improve your speeds during traffic managed hours, almost to your full speed. If you ever did switch to infinity just PM me and i'd send you the settings.

All the problems i have with Virgin such as youtube, streaming all went away with infinity.

openreach upgraded the line checker for the 80/20 speeds about 2 weeks ago, but have capped everyones download at 40Mb although if your line is capable you will see the full 20Mb on the checker.
