ADSL2, is BT still rolling it out?
Is ADSL2 still being rolled out by BT to it's exchanges or has this now been put aside for infinity??

Re: ADSL2, is BT still rolling it out?
My local exchange is due for 21CN upgrades on September 30th this year. An that only got updated on SAMKNOWS about 8 days ago so yes they're still rolling out ADSL2.
My area also gets BT INFINITY late 2011 early 2012. If they were only rolling out infinity now why bother with the 21CN upgrades, unless infinty needs them first?

Re: ADSL2, is BT still rolling it out?
FTTC and the ADSL2+ product WBC over 21CN are being deployed by different divisions of BT. BT Wholesale's FTTC service, which Infinity uses, needs to be backhauled to a 21CN enabled exchange, however the fibre products remove the relationship between a subscriber and their exchange - your BT fibre service doesn't necessarily go to your local exchange but to wherever your BT headend is.

Yeah, 'tis annoying, I've moved to (another!) location with no VM availability, but Sam Knows shows Infinity as being available on the exchange search, but not on my road (nor any ETA ).
Oh well, at least we can get a sufficient connection at a very reasonable price from O2.

ADSL2 usually comes before the FTTC deployment, as it relies on the 21CN backbone to provide it. So chances are yes.

Re: ADSL2, is BT still rolling it out?
It's weird as 21CN was scheduled on the SamKnows site for my exchange for sometime in 2011, but that date seems to have vanished on the site.. Just that the only alternative to VM here is ADSL Max at 6.5Mb..

Not really.
As I mentioned above also where an exchange has FTTC cabinets but no 21CN it's usually a small exchange and the headend for those cabinets, where their fibre goes, will be a larger exchange for cost purposes. It's actually cheaper for Openreach to blow fibre from a larger exchange than to set up every exchange with an FTTx headend so there's a fair amount of consolidation going on.
21CN is only used for BT Wholesale services. These are the majority but FTTC itself isn't dependent on BT Wholesale in any way, it's backhauled from cabinet to exchange with dedicated 10Gb links.
Where an exchange has a headend but no 21CN BT Wholesale can choose to use an extension circuit to connect the neared 21CN exchange to the FTTC headend but these will be unlikely. The exchanges that are 21CN are, naturally, going to be the most economical for a fibre head end.
As a case in point Northern Ireland has wide FTTC coverage, all exchanges have an FTTC presence. It has one 21CN exchange.

Re: ADSL2, is BT still rolling it out?

Re: ADSL2, is BT still rolling it out?
When 21CN is finally complete, will there be ADSL2 kit in all exchanges?

The guy has a point as your forum profile thing says
"cable says Luton" So that could indicate you have cable services.

Re: ADSL2, is BT still rolling it out?
OK I'll bite. I'm confused. Of course you don't have a login for VM.com, so you shouldn't you're not a residential customer, still served by the business division of VM though?
What does not having a login to ebilling have to do with actually having the service?
Were you high when you were writing about epic fails?
