BT to remove 300GB FUP

Cant find the report online, but in the Times (business section), BT are rumoured to be removing the 300GB FUP from next month.

I'm surprised anyone is able to download 300gb with the heavy restrictions they put in place, hehe.

BT's Total Broadband and Infinity offerings just got considerably more attractive to those concerned about falling foul of VM's AUP / DUP / FUP.

If you're being forced to end automatically recurring 18 month contracts I suppose you have to try to appear nicer to your customers.

This only affects BT's top tier of Infinity and Total broadband products, so it doesn't make it that different to Virgins current offerings from what I see.

Could be worse Stuart. They could be claiming to be unlimited while slowing people down on 5 of 6 packages for using too much bandwidth at the wrong times, managing traffic at peak times and even with all this sending letters to customers for breaking an undisclosed limit - all operational simultaneously.

BT can now claim the moral high ground over VM as far as limits go, VM's service having multiple limits both open and hidden while their unlimited packages have application shaping only.

I am not saying I think VM have the moral high ground. In fact, I agree that compared to Virgin, this is a good thing. I personally don't think either ISP is entirely honest.

I'd say part of the reason BT have done this is down to Virgins campaign to make ISPs more honest about claiming they're Unlimited when they're not. sort of thing.

Well done to Virgin Media.
I wonder if they'll do the same now?

Wasn't aware VM were doing a campaign about ISPs claiming to be unlimited when they aren't, that wouldn't just be throwing stones in glass houses it'd be letting off nukes in glass houses as they're among the most misleading in that regard.

The campaign was about honest advertising of speeds and largely a waste of time and a pure PR effort by VM as most suppliers follow Ofcom's code of conduct and give an estimated speed at time of order.
