Be Unlimited, highly recommended!
Howdy all,
I ordered BeUnlimited broadband on Monday afternoon... and I've been online using it since last night! I have to say Be has astounded me in the way they keep you informed every step of the way! But being online in 3 days made me "wow" for sure.
Excellent service so far, and highly recommended!
Just thought I'd share that with you all
The only downfall is the BeBox is a load of crap, but it does get you online very easily. It just doesn't allow the configurable options I need.

Re: Be Unlimited, highly recommended!
You can run the bebox in bridge mode meaning it just acts as a modem. You can then use a router (I use a linksys WRT54G) to do the routing for you. I have mine flashed with Tomato, which gives you all sorts of configurable options.

Re: Be Unlimited, highly recommended!
I've tried all sorts since last night and everything results in the router's interface being un-accessible and no internet being provided on any port, even with the static IP set, etc. I need another router to do it properly, as the BeBox is useless.

It has quite a powerful CLI if you like to play around a bit
http://www.beusergroup.co.uk/technotes has some of the things you can do in the CLI if you were at all interested.
Bridge mode from the setup wizard will throw it into an ADSL > Ethernet bridge setup which disables it's DHCP server, is it possible you activated this when playing around?
It would explain the lack of GUI access and not being able to get anywhere, as you'd then need to configure your IP on whatever it was you were connecting to it.

Re: Be Unlimited, highly recommended!
I deliberately enabled bridging mode, and the admin panel is still accessible until you play around in Telnet. Either way I have fully sorted it out now after some persistence!

How far from the exchange are you roughly, and how good is the ping and jitter.
Just curious

About 3KM line length.
22ms to France.
Sync: 9.5Mbps/1.3Mbps
Jitter: Can't test as I have multiple tasks on-going at the moment, but maxing out the download I get this:

Cheers Abyss
That seems pretty good considering, I would be interested in seeing what its like with nothing in the back ground running.

Re: Be Unlimited, highly recommended!
Send me a private message tomorrow and I'll see what I can do for you. My server is busy synchronising at the moment and it wouldn't be wise for me to interrupt it...

Straight Line distance is about 0.5KM
Actual Line distance is about 0.8KM
Code:
Mode: ADSL2+ AnnexM EU-56
Type: Fast
Line Coding: Trellis On
Status: No Defect
Link Power State: L0
Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin (dB): 3.8 3.6
Attenuation (dB): 12.5 9.2
Output Power (dBm): 13.1 18.3
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 24056 2317
Rate (Kbps): 42138 4634
Silly thing only displays the obtainable rate for dsl1, yet under the "rate" heading shows the combined rate for both lines.
Think I have a bit of crosstalk on my internal wiring (It's not possible for me to use the master sockets due to their location)
Usually can get ~37Mbit/s when downloading which is probably about right by the time overheads are taken into account.
