Re: BT Total Broadband speeds?

Are you connected to the master BT Socket in your property? If you are, unscrew the two holding screws and gently remove the faceplate, being careful not to disturb any wiring, and connect the homehub to the test socket for about an hour to see if there is any change. By connecting it to the test socket, you connect it straight to the exchange and it bypasses any internal wiring.

Yes - something happened to your line which has caused the BT network to place you on a ridiculously conservative profile - you are currently capped to 128kbps downstream and have an enormously conservative DSL profile which has pushed you down to 2.5Mbps sync rate.

Time to brave BT support - good luck with that - if you're stuck there's their forums and a representative posts on ThinkBroadband.

Re: BT Total Broadband speeds?

A quick (free) audio test to try is dialling 17070 then option 2 for a quiet line test with a phone plugged into the master socket with filter on. If you have a lot of noise on the line get BT out to fix the fault.

Hi Ignitionnet, Thanks very much for your quick reply. I`ve spent a few hours online and on the `phone with BT support so far and its worse than ever.!
They tell me one minute that they have run diagnostics and there is no fault on the line but then they tell me that they can see i have a speed issue.!
I`ve been in touch with the UK PSTN team and they say that there is no fault. So i`ve gone from about 6 1/2 meg download to .......

Bloody Outrageous that they can tell me there is not a problem.
Any chance you know anyone that works for BT that can help me here please? I`ll be very grateful. Thank you.
