Fibreband

Hi All,

I have just signed up with Fibreband. I am based in Bournemouth and have had my home connected by Fibrecity via their fibre optic cabling, which was done free of charge.

I signed up with Fibreband as they helped coordinate my install and where generally helpful. I am on their Fibre100 package and get 94Mbps which is pretty great. My connection is via FTTH and I don't think anyone will be able to get much better speeds than this

Re: Fibreband

Sounds pretty sweet to me, what are the upload speeds like?

Almost had broadband for 10 years and i'm yet to get 1mbps upload... hopefully one day Fibercity will have covered the UK in fiber so we can all get them speeds

Is Milton Keynes one of them?

Re: Fibreband

so far all ive been told is Plymouth, Derby, Halton (Cheshire), Nottingham, York, Belfast, Aberdeen, Ipswich, Bristol and Birmingham.. They aim to start building out those networks within 12 months.

there are a few more too but i think they are being kept under wraps for now

Smile Re: Fibreband

I have also just arranged for a "free trial" of the newly re-instated FibreBand services.
Looking forward to increased speeds etc that Fibre Optic Broadband (hopefully) will bring.
Can anyone tell me what to expect of the 'installation' process. I have a cable running to the house, have the 'box' on the wall. Just need a connection internally?
Then what ?? Presumably I will need a new/different router? And presumably will get the necessary information to set the system/process up??
Anyone been through the process who can give me some hints/tips/advice - it would be gratefully received.

Re: Fibreband

It would be interesting if you can update how the install goes, it seems that they are promoting 'Upto' 1Gb down, 100Mb up.

It will be good to see what you can get.

Re: Fibreband

installed this morning very pleased, the two blokes were very quick considering they had to route the cable around my room a bit.

only had 1 problem when i connected my network up, that was that i wasnt getting the right speeds but that was an error on my part as i need to change my linksys router to a AP.

Re: Fibreband

oh my [insert x-rated exclamation word here]! DO WANT!
Curious Mode:
How do they get round 90deg angles/sharp bends along the route?
What's the internal cabling like? Like consumer SPDIF optical audio cabling?
I wonder how they would service blocks of flats?
Is the box on the wall the fibre-to-Ethernet converter? What's the converter unit like?

Dear Santa,
please can I have FibreBand come to Reading this year!
