Can someone use Dial up internet with MY phone line?
I'm not sure if I'm in the correct place here, so please bear with me, and if I'm not, I'm sure a moderator can move this thread.
Basically all this happened a year ago, and I gave up trying to dispute it, but I'm starting up again.
I was with BT for telephone, and for a few bills (bearing in mind they bills are quarterly), I was getting these 'internet charges' which were mounting up to £200+ per bill.
These are not mine! I didn't even have a computer let alone internet at the time! And I've told them this!
They investigated it from the comfort of their office and basically told me that their system doesn't lie, that I have made these dial ups.
I tried to ring these numbers and all I got was that weird noise, simular to a fax machine when you ring it...making sense?
Is it possible someone hacked my phone line or something?
PLUS, when I'm on the phone talking to someone I get a sound on my land line where it sounds like someones picked up like a second phone in the house...I HAVEN'T got a second phone!!
What is going oN?
I didn't call out the engineer at the time because I was told from BT that if there was no problem found, I would get charged, and I don't think this was fair, and I couldn't afford it, what if someone has hacked it and the engineer couldn't find it!?!?
Has anyone else had the same troubles?
How can I get proof that I didn't make these calls?
Thank you
