Please help me !
Hey,im new to the site and i have a problem...BT came out to connect my line up and it turns out the wire was so damaged the engineer said he would need to fit a new one from the telegraph pole into the house ...hmmm easy right ? ...well not so,he went to climb the pole in the neighbours garden but the neoghbour told him not to as he has a huge pigeon hut and the wire would be directly in their flight path so the engineer didnt carry out the job sooooooooo he left it as they would be out to do a survey ? but i have an old telewest socket in the house too....question is...what will the survey involve and can BT use fibre optic into this old telewest socket instead of overhead ?

Re: Please help me !
Welcome to the site,
The telewest cable (now VM) can not be used by BT (no matter how much they'd love to).
As for the neighbour he has no right to prohibit the wire unless it's within a certain distance of his physical house (I think it's a couple of meters).

Re: Please help me !
So you neighbour thinks pigeons fly with their eyes shut does he?
Pigeons have excellent vision.
Get BT back in and tll them to ignore the idiot next door.

Re: Please help me !
If the wire is replacing one that already exists, what is the problem?

BT don't place poles in people's gardens, so that doesn't sound right.
BT have the right to instal services into homes and neighbours pigeons or not, the neighbours can't block it. I had to recently lob a 30 year old mature tree in my front garden because it was starting to clash with a neighbour's BT wire which goes over my front garden. The BT wire won, my tree lost!
Phone BT up and tell them to stop messing about.

Re: Please help me !
Depends on locale sometimes, it may be that the pole was on land that the neighbour purchased and added to his garden or it may just be a very large garden either way the neighbour will lose this war as he cannot stop BT from accessing their pole.

Re: Please help me !
Plus the point is it's not INSTALLING a drop cable accross the neighbour's garden, it's REPLACING one.
