The router change made a tremendous difference for me. gave me an additional 1/3rd extra upstream which is very good given the length of my line.

I think you made the right choice. For me the difference between say 14mbit (what you have) and 50mbit is not major unless you are a serial downloader, both will support heavy broadband use.

But on the O2 side of things you have excellent jitter, much less chance of future congestion as the shared backhaul is significantly larger, much better upload, no traffic management and is cheaper.
