O2 BB - Setting it up

My pal has been given a PC and is new to the internet as well. I have recommended O2 as his ISP (I am VM) but will be away when his pack arrives. It is my intention to leave him with a list of do's and don'ts and general advice. I would appreciate putting me straight and adding anything extra.
Order 3 (1 extra) filters. One for each BT point.
Does the installation come with a CD or do you install with CS on phone.
Is 1 email address supplied and are additional ones easy to set up.
Although only 1 PC will be used, is it advisable to hard wire from rear of supplied router for extra security ie. Firewire.
Does O2 have virus checking facilities or will he need his own.
Is there a particular telephone number to use for Tech Help.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Most likely CD but the if connecting via ethernet (not firewire) then it should be plug and play. It will come with a complete installation pack and a step by step guide but the main points are no 50m extension reels on the tel line, filter on each tel socket in use before anything else is plugged into them and read the manual.

Re: O2 BB - Setting it up

Am I right that you have to install a filter even on redundant BT sockets ie. spare bedrooms.

Re: O2 BB - Setting it up

Shouldn't have to filter them if not in use but if anything is in them yes they will need a filter unless the master socket is pre-filtered with a specialist filter plate.
