ADSL line stats
I know all about cable signal stats and what's good, having had a good 8 months with Virgin Media. I've since discovered ADSL line stats, but can't tell what's good and what's not, and I realise it's dependant on how far you are from the exchange.
Could somebody tell me whether these are good or not? We're about half a mile from the exchange (5 minutes walk).
DownstreamUpstream
We're synced at 2272Kbps down, 288Kbps up.

Re: ADSL line stats
Those stats are fantastic. Whoever you are connected with on that line get rid of them as it's probably capable of close to 24.5Mbit down and 2.6Mbit up with the right ISP.

Re: ADSL line stats
If your downstream attentuation is around 28db then you should attain around 18-20Mbs but if your downstream attenuation is 12db then 20+ Mbs is attainable.
Although i have given you figures for both as i can't tell which is the downstream attenuation in your post.

Re: ADSL line stats
Updated ones from my Netgear ADSL router:
Line Attenuation: 12 db Downstream, 4.5 db Upstream
Noise Margin: 27-30 db (nominally 28 db) Downstream, 28 db Upstream.
I live about 5-10 minutes walk from the exchange, but the line dropping out occasionally presents a problem, and I don't know what could solve it. We have an extension cable from the master socket, but placing the modem on the master socket is not possible in our current house layout.

Unfortunately no ISPs offer such a product on our exchange (Lowestoft). Which is a right pain as I'd easily take Be* over the crap Orange give us. Sky's out of the question.
